After 13 years business, chef-owners of The Vietnam Restaurant in Rockland County, NY, have decided to expand and introduce their authentic, family-inspired recipes to Ridgewood, NJ.
Mekong Grill, is operated by chef-owner Tai Nham, who graduated at the top of his class from the French Culinary Institute, and two other family members – his eldest sister, Hai (#2, as her younger 10 siblings refer to their eldest sister) bringing to the table recipes handed down from generations before her, and his brother-in-law, Weng, who has over 25 years experience as a chef of Asian cuisine.
We will continue to serve high-quality, authentic Vietnamese dishes that have been successful with our current customers over the years. However, as our new venture brings us to Ridgewood, we are also looking to venture into new territory in menu offerings in the form of weekly specials of fused techniques and recipes from our 3 diverse chefs.
We look forward to serving our new and old friends in our new location.

They found it in a little storefront in downtown Ridgewood that has seen a succession of failed restaurants in the past few years. The owners of the last one, a sushi spot, were Viet Nam customers and suggested that the family take over their lease on Chestnut Street. Read entire article

THE RECORD

Entering the restaurant business might be easier when more than a few of your 10 older siblings are already in it. And making your debut on the Ridgewood dining scene might be a little easier when you’re not selling sushi or Japanese food, cuisine available at a number of other local establishments.
Tai Nham is hoping to make his mark serving traditional Vietnamese food at the Mekong Grill, which opened Nov. 18 at the former location of Toro Sushi Bar on Chestnut Street. Read entire article
